Literacy Foundations II
Hey everyone,
A quick update on this GRA position. I was promoted to a TA three weeks ago and have been given access in iCollege to provide feedback and help grade assignments. We administered the final for this master's level course today. I have been practicing giving specific feedback and implementing all that we have learned from this program.. well most of what we have learned. I was chosen because Dr. May wanted me to be looking at lesson plans and grading them as I would as a principal/ department chair. It has been immensely helpful in improving my feedback skills and communication. Also, I have been able to give helpful hints on how to teach the student how to read. I have surprised myself with some of the suggestions I have offered to the students. I know more than I think I know. This experience has been so great, and I am sad that today was the last day of class.
I still have two days of lesson plans to give feedback on, and I hope I can help shape these teachers way of planning a bit more. Some of them have done great work making adjustments along the way. Others I wonder if they have even looked at a word that I wrote. We are not so much different than our students!
